Westfield State Maris Art Gallery to host Charles Suggs exhibit
Westfield State University’s Arno Maris Art Gallery will host “Ephemeral Marks,” an exhibit by Charles Suggs, from Sept. 13 to Oct. 23. The artist will present a talk on Wednesday, Oct. 6, at 3:15 p.m. in the gallery, which is located in Ely Campus Center, at 577 Western Ave.
In May 2020, The Boston Globe named Suggs one of “five outstanding art school grads for 2020.” He is fascinated with researching lesser-known stories from Black history and exploring them in his art. His art began with drawings, transitioned to watercolors, and recently expanded to video and animation. To view some of Suggs’ work, visit https://cwsart.net/.
The exhibit and gallery talk are free and open to the public. Gallery hours: Tuesday–Friday,
10 a.m.–2 p.m., and Saturday, 11 a.m.–3 p.m. For more information, visit www.westfield.ma.edu/marisgallery.
