Biography

Background

I joined the faculty of Westfield State University Department of Social Work in 2010. I teach primarily in the research and practice sequence at the department. I obtained my Master in Social Work (MSW) from Hunter College School of Social Work, New York and my PhD from the University of Maryland, School of Social Work, Baltimore. My social work practice background includes child abuse and neglect investigations, individual and group counseling in alcohol and substance abuse treatment program, casework in group home and school setting, and independent practice with foster youths. Scholarly and Practice Interests    

Interest/focus: Parental and interpersonal violence and abuse, sexual health, child welfare, and violence prevention and intervention across societies.

Research: Utilize quantitative and qualitative research methods to examine the impacts of parental and interpersonal violence and abuse on attitudes, behaviors, and psychosocial outcomes, and determine the efficacy of intervention in preventing violence and treating its effects.
