All Art Majors and Minors are strongly encouraged to partake in internships, a summer artist residence, and the University's Center for Undergraduate Research and Creative Activities (CURCA) programs. Internship Information
Internship Requirements
- For a Graphic Design placement: you must have completed ART0228 Graphic Design 1 and ART0210 Typography 1
- For a Studio placement: you must have completed ART0204 Printmaking 1, ART 0216 Painting 1, ART0214 Drawing 2, ART 0205 Sculpture 1, ART 0204 Pottery 1
- For a Art History placement: you must have completed 2 upper level (200-300) art history classes
- For a general placement (Art Therapy or other related visual arts fields): you must have completed ART 0104 Design Fundamentals and/or ART 0105 3D Design, ART 0106 Prehistory-Middle Ages, ART 0209 Color Theory
- A digital portfolio / website of personal work (carbonmade.com and Adobe Spark are good free website options for this).
- You can only do one internship on campus
- You can do one or more internships off campus (this is recommended over an on campus internship)
- All on and off campus internships require a meeting with the Career Center to review and edit your resume.
- All off campus internships require a meeting or two with the Career Center to introduce you to the job interview process, interview help, and receive the final approval for this off campus placement.
