Transfer Student Advising

Transfer Transition Tuesdays

Transfer students are able to sign up for a Transfer Transition Tuesday on one of the following dates: June 17th, June 24th, July 15th, or July 29th. Sessions will take place between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. each day, and will include a short orientation, and lunch. Students will meet with an Orientation Leader and be offered a full campus tour, along with introductions to various departments that are here to help students in their success. Students will be provided the opportunity to take care of any administrative items they may have and ask any questions they need answered before the semester begins.

To sign up for a Transfer Transition Tuesday, please follow the steps below:

  1. Log into your Westfield State application portal (not your myWestfield account)
  2. Locate the New Student Orientation Registration form under your Checklist
  3. Fill it out and submit – it’s that easy!

All students are strongly encouraged to participate.

  • Advisor Contact: Brittany Garand, our Transfer, Evening, and Returning Student Advisor, will reach out to assist with building your first course schedule.
  • Supportive Transition: Brittany is dedicated to supporting new transfer students, ensuring a successful first semester at Westfield State University.

2. Course Schedule Building for Fall/ Summer 2025:

  • Complete the Fall/ Summer 2025 Course Preference Questionnaire. Fall schedules will begin to be built after February 20th. Summer schedules will be built after March 4th.
  • Schedules are built based on course availability, prior courses, degree planning, and Department Chair recommendations for your major. Submitting preferences early increases the chance of preference fulfillment.

3. Review the Fall/ Summer 2025 New Student Checklist:

Are you ready for classes? Summer session 1 starts May 19th, Summer session 2 starts July 7, and the Fall semester begins Wednesday, September 3, 2025.

WSU Transfer Peer Mentor Program

  • New transfer student? Join the WSU Transfer Peer Mentor program! The Transfer Peer Mentor Program is a free program that connects incoming transfer students with an experienced former transfer student to help you navigate your first semester at Westfield State University. 

  • Have federal work study? Join the Office of Advising and Transfer Transition to work as a Transfer Peer Mentor and help build our thriving transfer community on campus!

Tau Sigma National Transfer Honor Society

Transfer students who achieve a 3.5 GPA or higher during their first semester at WSU are eligible to join the WSU Tau Sigma National Transfer Honor Society Eta Theta Chapter. Interested students can contact the Tau Sigma Chapter Co-Advisors Brittany Garand  bgarand@westfield.ma.edu or Megan Bishop at mhbishop@westfield.ma.edu
