Following the steps below will help to ensure a smooth registration process:
1. CHECK REGISTRATION STATUS/CLASS LEVEL
2. CHECK IF YOU HAVE REGISTRATION HOLDS
To view what holds you have, click “view holds” at the bottom of the Registration Status page. Holds may be placed on accounts at any time, check this screen often!!! You can find a description of possible holds here: https://www.westfield.ma.edu/offices/registrar
ALL HOLDS MUST BE CLEARED BEFORE YOU CAN REGISTER!
3. MEET WITH YOUR ADVISOR/CHECK REGISTRATION PIN
Each class will have their own advising week.
Print your Degree Evaluation to bring to your advising appointment: myWestfield – Degree Progress Card-click the DegreeWorks Dashboard link
You must have your advising form signed! Your advisor/department will issue you an “Alternate Registration PIN” to use when you register online.
Check your alternate PIN before registration. Although the registration window is not open, you can check the accuracy of that pin by selecting “Step 5: add/drop classes” under the “registration step-by-step” card in the MyWestfield portal. When prompted, enter your alternate PIN to receive one of the following messages:
Message
If your PIN is GOOD
“you are not permitted to register at this time”
If your PIN is BAD
“authorization failure - invalid alternate PIN”
Please contact your advisor if your PIN is invalid. Advisors can contact the Registrar’s Office if a student received an invalid PIN. The Registrar’s Office cannot give PINs to students.
4. SELECT/SEARCH COURSES
During or after your advising appointment, use the online Course Offerings to find available courses, view pre-requisites, and begin to build your schedule. The Course Offerings can be found on the Registrar webpage. You may also use the online course search in the MyWestfield portal (Registration Step by Step Card - Step 4: Search Classes) to find available courses along with available seats. Course descriptions, major restrictions, and pre-requisites for courses can be found in the “Course Descriptions” page of the current academic year’s University Catalog.
When planning your schedule, remember that students may register for a maximum of 18 credits during the pre-registration period. Additional credits may be added during add/drop at the beginning of the next term.
