Counseling Services

Uwill Student Mental Health Support and Togetherall Peer Support

Westfield State University utilizes Uwill, which offers free, immediate access to a licensed counselor trained in trauma.

Call 833-646-1526 for help 24/7/365.

If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911.

Westfield State University also uses Togetherall, an online peer to peer support community clinically moderated by mental health professionals. It offers students a safe and anonymous place to express their thoughts, concerns, and triumphs. Resources are free for students to use and available 24/7/365.

We strive to facilitate self-discovery, personal growth and self-empowerment for Westfield State University students.

All services are free and confidential to full-time day students. Graduate and Continuing Education students may be seen for consultation and referral.

The Counseling Center generally operates on a model in which the counselor actively assists the student in defining the problem, identifying specific goals, and producing change. The focus is on identifying client strengths and resources as a foundation for problem-solving. Counselors work with students to help them find the most efficient solutions to their problems. The duration of treatment for each student is determined by the counselor in collaboration with the student, taking into account the need to serve all students interested in receiving our services.

Why People Go To Counseling
There are times when people struggle with a concern that they find difficult to resolve. Talking with a counselor can be helpful in exploring, understanding, and working through your concerns. The number of sessions you have will vary depending on the nature of your concerns, and what you and your counselor decide.

Same Day Counseling
Same day counseling offers more immediate access to a counseling session. For an appointment, call the Counseling Center--the earlier the better. If our same-day appointments are booked for that day, you can always try again the following day or choose to make a traditional counseling appointment for a day in the future.

Confidentiality
All counseling sessions are strictly confidential. No information may be released without the written permission of the student unless there is an immediate safety concern.
